Internal Promotion
I’m excited to communicate that Bridget Higdon has been promoted to Publisher for our business in Vermont, where we publish the Saint Albans Messenger-Tuesday and Friday, Essex Reporter-monthly print, Colchester Sun and Milton Independent (both online only for now).
I hired Bridget as a Staff Writer for Chittenden County in June 2020 in the midst of the pandemic. She did a fantastic job and steadily assumed added responsibilities, including being named Managing Editor for the group in August 2021. Bridget has been very effective with building a team of reporters that I believe is currently the best reporting group in the state of Vermont. She has also done a nice job with building relationships with key stakeholders in the communities we serve in both Franklin and Chittenden County. We have aggressive plans to continue with our expansion in Chittenden County with more engaging local news websites and monthly print publications and having a rising star in Bridget to help lead the way is really exciting!
I’ll be working closely with Bridget in her new role as will Caleb Anderson, Chad Richardson and our OMG support structure.
Bridget graduated from UVM with a BA in English with Writing concentration. She loves living in Vermont and is very active with lots of outdoors activity that the state has to offer.
